Description

Late May, in our Bortle 5 backyard, was perfect for some good data acquisition, no moon, no clouds, low winds, and I revisited and chased M63, Sunflower Galaxy, at 2135mm Focal length, without the 0.63x Focal Reducer, using my spring/summer rig: Nexstar Evo 8" SCT on the HEQ5 Pro mount, ZWO 294MC Pro main camera and 120mm guidecam, ZWO EAF, ASI Air Plus, Optolong L Pro filter, and all powered by two Jackery units.
Messier 63 or M63, also known as NGC 5055 or the seldom-used Sunflower Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici with approximately 400 billion stars. (Wikipedia) Distance to Earth: 27 million light Years, so it was great to see it almost straight above our house around midnight!!!
Restacked and reprocessed today in Pixinsight. Here's the final processed image of M63 Galaxy, 25 x 3min light subs, stacked in Pixinsight with 20 darks and 30 flats, and processed in Pixinsight and Paintshop pro, Stars De-emphasized and Cropped.. enjoy
